You can have reasons or results, and you can’t have both.
Seven and a half thousand miles. Approximately.
This morning while taking my dog for her morning walk, I decided to count about how many steps I take in a minute. At a good pace, I got about 120 steps in. Then I started getting curious and did some math. Being conservative with how long each step was and how many times each week I’ve walked Wendy; I estimated that my dog and I have walked somewhere in the neighborhood of 7500 – 8000 miles over the last 9+ years. That’s cross-country multiple times.
If someone had challenged me to walk 7500 miles, I’m pretty sure I would have come up with an excuse why I would not do it. Yet, here we are. That many down and many hundreds of miles to go. When you break a big number down into daily routine, it becomes not only doable – it becomes habit. Necessity. Automatic.
Reasons or results…
On a coaching call today with an OP in California I learned his MC just had their best month – ever – November 2020. Best ever. He has agents who are crushing it and he has agents who are accepting unemployment checks and making excuses. Some in his MC are working at $400/hour while others are settling for $400/week.
A couple agents are focusing their efforts on expireds and FSBOs. They are getting on average 1-2 deals/month. “Well… that’s not much,” you might say. You’re right…. And it is better than collecting a government check. Those FSBO and expireds are often double ended or at least good for referrals if they are moving out of the area. These agents are also marketing these listings like crazy (Command) and picking up additional leads in a market that has an inventory of 1 week or less. So, the 1 or 2 FSBO/expired sales are leveraging their results… and they are going to have a great year.
Reasons or results…
Results happen from small, proper, intentional, and consistent efforts over time. Results build on themselves. One step on a dog walk to thousands of cumulative miles… One FSBO to another listing and more buyers. Start today on your success journey. Don’t think about how long it might take to get the big result – because the day you waste creating reasons not to do it simply pushes your results one day (or more) further away from you. Just start.
